A student residence in Puch-Urstein in the province of Salzburg has been plagued by mice for the past two weeks.
The Fachhochschule Salzburg residence has mice in both the student’s rooms and in the kitchen areas.
Georg Leitinger, who works for student accommodation services, said: "There are now allegedly a lot of mice. But they are very hard to find. They have good hiding places, they could be anywhere. It will take some time before we get this problem under control."
The cause of the mice plague is unclear, Leitinger said, adding: "There could be two causes. We are expanding the university at the moment. This is affecting the foundations, it could be the mice are moving from their holes into the student accommodation.
"The heavy rain could also be another cause. Mice are searching for a dry place and they could have found those in the student accommodation."
A pest controller together with student services staff have been laying mice traps to catch the rodents throughout the residence.
They hope to have the problem completely under control by the beginning of the next semester in September.

hi vj, as you know, the dollar does’nt buy much in Europe ayonmre. We also have 4 kids, so we know that you have to watch how you spend your $. We’ve been to both the eastern and western Med and have enjoyed both. In the west, Barcelona is very nice as well as Florence, Italy, but you’ll get more bang for your buck in the ex-soviet countries in the eastern Med. Thats why I suggest you go to the Crimea region of the Black Sea. You can visit Eupheus and Istanbul Turkey as well as Varna Bulgaria, Yalta Russia and Odessa in the Ukriane. Dubrovnik Croatia is very nice and is now becoming very popular with the Europeans. These places offer culture, friendly hospitable people and beautiful beaches. I would skip Constanza, Romania, as the people there are cold and unfriiendly like the Russians. The very best museum we ever visited is the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia, but that’s north. Research and ENJOY
