Salzburg chooses their Christkind

The jury has finally settled on the choice of Christkind for the Salzburg Christmas market after a jury selected the winning candidate and 3 angels from the young girls that applied to take part at the weekend.

The selection took place in the studio of RTS and the jury included advertising professional Nadica Petrovic who said: "It was a tough choice, but we now have a fantastic winner and three wonderful angels".

Fellow jury member and photographer Mike Vogl said: "every one of the candidates had something special about them. Some were great at mimicking, others had a beautiful face and some had a wonderful laugh or absolutely perfect hair. It was not an easy choice."

Candidate Mia Wiederstein from Moosstrasse in Salzburg said:“I do not know if I've got a good chance because I have dark brown here but I do speak Spanish, and that can be an advantage in dealing with foreign tourists."

Another candidate, Theresa Gmachl, said: "I was here last year and enjoyed myself so I thought I'd try again this year."

Last year's winner Christkind Serafina was present this year to look at the casting and said: "It was really fantastic fun and I had a great time. I hope that this year's winner has as much fun."
