The 26th Kitzbuhel Alp-rally will take place 5 – 8 June 2013, with some 200 classic cars touring the Alp-roads and mountain passes.
The old-timer rally attracts many celebrities from the sport-world, the media and show-business. The cars, which are all built before 1976, have to travel 500 kilometres on carefully chosen roads, through stunning landscapes of Salzburg's Lammertal and Chiemgau in Bavaria.
There are two categories in the challenge – the Alp-Rally Sport Trophy (GPS-assessed) and the Alpen-Rally Classic Trophy for amateur drivers. The overall winner takes home the prestigious Sepp-Greger Mountain-Trophy.
The finish line of the three-day competition is in Kitzbuhel's city centre, where the cars parade in front of thousands of spectators. Seven decades of automobile know-how parade at the end of the four-day tour – including racing cars from the pre-war period, coupé, roadsters and limousine from the 50s and 60s – as well as other rare pearls of the early days of automobile.
Selected vehicles from the Volkswagen Group collections and museums will represent the brand during the challenge. One of the sponsors, Schaeffler Group, will also be competing with their own factory team.
